Using Espeon

For breeding, and training Espeon I recommend checking out the Smogon Espeon Page. Smogon is one of the best resources for planning your team and training competitive Pokemon. While I don't play competitively, I can recommend the Focus Slash set, which takes advantage of the Special Attack and Speed stats:

  • Espeon with Focus Sash
  • Ability: Magic Bounce
  • EVs: 4 Def / 252 SpA / 252 Spe
  • Timid Nature
  • - Psyshock
  • - Psyshock
  • - Grass Knot
  • - Hidden Power Fire

    Obtain Espeon

Unlike previous Eeveelutions, Espeon does not evolve with the help of any stone. The way that you get your Eevee to evolve into an Espeon, is to get a high friendship value. The best ways to do this is to catch your Eevee in a luxury ball, and to give it a soothe bell. Both of these items boost the friendship value of your Eevee. After the friendship value is obtained, you must level up your Eevee between 4AM and 8PM. Otherwise, you'll end up with an Umbreon. Espeon was not an available Pokemon in the generation 1 games. If you don't already have an Eevee, head on over to Eevee game locations. Locations of Soothe Bell below.

FR/LG: Because Fire Red and Leaf Green lack a night/day system, the only way to obtain an Espeon in this game is to trade it over from Pokemon Emerald, Ruby, or Sapphire. Therefore, a soothe bell is not needed in this game.

G/S/C: The soothe bell item does not exist in these games. The best ways to make your Pokemon happy include haircuts, leveling up, and giving your Eevee supplements such as protein. Just having Eevee in your party also increases its friendship value.

HG/SS: The soothe bell can be found in the National Park. It is north of the entrance of Route 36.

R/S/E: The soothe bell can be obtained at the Pokemon Fan Club in Slateport City. However, one of your Pokemon must have a fair amount of happiness. This is the same in Omega Ruby and Alpha Sapphire.

D/P/Pt: The soothe bell can be found at the Pokemon Mansion near Route 212. The bell will be given to you by one of the maids in the mansion.

B/W/B2/W2: In a building north west of the Pokemon Center in Nimbasa City, there is an old woman who will give you a soothe bell upon you showing her a Pokemon with a high amount of happiness.

X/Y: Much like in Black and White, a soothe bell will be given to you by an old woman in Shalour City after showing her a Pokemon with high happiness. She is located in a building west of the Pokemon Center.
